Dipl.-Ing. Dr. Dietmar Winkler is area lead at the Austrian Center for Digital Production (ACDP) and lecturer at the Vienna University of Technology as member of the research group for Quality Software Engineering at the Institute for Information Systems Engineering, Information and Software Engineering Group. Additionally he is working as a consultant for quality assurance and process management in software engineering and as quality management consultant in the automotive business area.

From 2018-2022 he worked as key researcher for for Quality Assurance and Engineering Process improvement in the Christian Doppler Laboratory for Security and Quality Improvement in the Production System Life-Cycle (CDL-SQI) at TU Wien. From 2010-2017 he worked as project assistant and key resarcher in the Christian Doppler Laboratory “Software Engineering Integration for Flexible Automation Systems” at TU Wien. In 2016 he worked as senior researcher at SBA Research. In 2008 he received a scholarship (by Siemens Austria and the Faculty of Informatics, TU Vienna) for a 4 months research stay at the Fraunhofer Institute of Experimental Software Engineering in Kaiserslautern (DE). In 2007 he worked as a guest researcher at Czech Technical UniversityDepartment of Cybernetics in Prague (CZ).

He studied computer science at the Vienna University of Technology with emphasis on Software Engineering, Quality Management and Requirements Engineering. In 2015 he received a PhD in computer science (Thesis: “Improving Engineering Processes and Quality Assurance in Heterogeneous Engineering Environments”) from Vienna University of Technology. In 2003 he received an MS in computer Science (Thesis: “Empirical Evaluation of Inspections as a Quality Management Approach for Defect Detection in the Context of Software Engineering”) from the Vienna University of Technology.

Dietmar Winkler Quality Consulting (DWQ-Consulting) was founded in 2004 with the vision to connect research, industry, and education in the field of software and systems engineering in order to improve products, processes, and services in various application areas, such as business software engineering, automation systems engineering, or in the manufacturing and automotive business sector.
